Washington, D.C . by Keiko.K

After the Boston trip, from April 11th to 13rd, we went to Washington, D.C. We took a train, "Amtrack", to go there. It took about 8 hours! I was a little tired , but we were able to see many kinds of American views. Washington, D.C. was a really beautiful place and there were many sweet cherry blossoms on the street. The weather was also very fine, so we were lucky to feel and see Washington views. Before the trip, we learned some American history in American studies class. There were a lot of memorials and good places for tourists. I was especially moved at the war memorials. I felt sad thinking about many people who died during the wars, but it's very important to remind the next generation about war memories. I was also excited by many kinds of statues, which were very famous people, such as Lincoln and Thomas Jefferson. I imagined those people as if I lived at that time. The last day, we went to the Smithonian Institute, it was the most interesting place for me. I was very moved by the great arts. If I had had a lot of time, I could have seen another museum. I'd like to go there again! I realized that a lot of people came from all over the world to Washimgton, D.C. There were good places for people to know about goverment and business, and to learn historical things, so it's a very important city for all of people. I'm really happy to learn and visit many places in Washington,D.C. I'll remember those memories after I go back to Japan. After this trip, I'm more and more interested in American history, and I want to learn about not only American history but also other countries' histories. This trip was a good chance to better myself.
