We had many interesting experiences My father cooked every meal breakfast, lunch and dinner. I was surprise because In our case the mother's job in Japan is cooking, and my host sister said "That's a common thing here."Every meal was made by my host father, It was very delicious. I also was surprised about another thing. That is religion. My host family is Jewish, and before meal, they sing a song, they told me that it means a kind of thanksgiving. I thought almost all Americans are Christians. My host mother told me about religion. "Jewish people is a very few, almost all Americans are Christians, maybe. Jewish people make up 1% or 2% of the American population." I thought this is an unusual and good experience.
The next day we have many interesting things also. We held the party. My host mother is a law school teacher, so she invited some students. I also got culture shock! They spoke really fast! so I tried to take part in that conversation, many times but, it was very hard for me.One of students came from New York, so he especially spoke fast. I want to join the conversation and speak fluently someday. I could follow the topic of only one conversation! It was about the election! I'm interested in the election, so I already knew a little bit of information about next election. That was a hot discussion topic. We talked about who will be next president. It was very interesting.
We had a good time with my host family also On the last day. I cooked Japanese food for the lunch. I cooked chirashi-sushi, fried noodle, stir-fried vegetables and Japanese soup (clean and miso). I did well if I do say so myself! They also liked what I cooked. They especially liked the chirashi-sushi! I was very happy that they liked it.
Finally are time came to and end. I really missed them, because I learned many things from my host family. I sing a song with due acknowledgment to my host family, and my host family said "You are very good singer, you should audition for American Idol!" That was funny, but I was very happy. I had a great experience. I want to meet them again. I want to say thank you to my host family.
