On March 23th was a happy Easter holiday, and also today was my first time to experience Easter holiday. Easter is celebrated as the religious holiday commemorating the resurrection of Jesus Christ, the son of God. Actually, I'm not a Christian, but I have been looking forward to this day. Indeed, our group mates and I had planned to go downtown with our RA.
We visited many places on that day. At first, we went to church in downtown. When I arrived there, I was surprised at the size. The church was larger than I thought. There are many people there, there was a second floor and a screen like a theater. Some people wore nice clothes dress, other people wore casual clothes such as jeans. I wore a one-piece dress. The church held a specially event for Easter. We sometimes prayed and sang song to Jesus. All things in the church fascinated me because this was the first time for me to go to the church. I had a nice time. Next, we went to cafe near the church. I drank Hot chocolate latte. It taste was good and was a little cheaper than the usual piece because today was Easter holiday! I was surprised again. After that, we went to a shopping mall. Although we could go inside the mall, almost all of the shops were closed. I was disappointed, because in Japan, people think weekends and holidays are chance to earn money, so I haven't seen closed shops on weekends and holidays except hospitals.
Through the day, I could learn how American think about Easter,and how important it is for them to celebrate it. Every people enjoys the holiday, and celebrates it on a large scale. Even if you aren't a Christian. I thought it is one of the wonderful American cultures, and I want to know other kind of culture also. I had a nice Easter holiday.
