My travel group is TG1 and I liked my special unit class because all of my group members are in the same class except Yuka. My teachers were Lynaia, Chris, Jhana and Pamela. They are very good teachers and I was glad to have them classes. I enjoyed my special unit class because I could go out to many places.

On April 17th, I went to the Courthouse with Chris and Jhana. I had not gone to any courthouses before so I was much exited. It was very big and it looked like a castle! I had never seen such a courthouse. I didn’t think this was it. When I entered there, my bag and I were checked. I could go through without problems but many students had to stop and they were checked twice. First, I went to the court room which was narrower than I thought. We could sit down not only with the audience seat but also in the judge’s seat. I touched the judge’s hammer. I was very surprised because judge’s seat and lawyer’s seat had a lot of portraits next to the seat. In Japan, maybe no one bring their children’s portraits to their office. Then we went the up stairs to the second floor, I saw some people who were caught. I was very surprised it. It was my first time to see people like them. Then, I went to the court room which was deliberating about stealing problem. I couldn’t understand the story as I listened to a carefully. All of this was good experience for me.

On April 20th, I went to the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist with Pamela in the morning. It was a very beautiful cathedral. The stained glass windows were very beautiful and mysterious. There were three people in the cathedral and one of them told us some information about the cathedral. There was a pipe organ and the pipes were too many to count. I listened to the organ’s music and I was much moved. The sound was very dignified and elegant. The pianist was kind so he beckoned my friend and she played a little. After that, I toured the cathedral. Fortunately, this day was sunny so I could saw nice view outside from the balcony. I like the cathedral because I think this place is good for the visitor.

In the afternoon, I hiked to the Spokane River with Lynaia and Chris and their dog, Angel. I wanted to see to the river so I was very happy. Angel is a very clever dog so she led us to the river. She was like a sheep dog. We descended the path and I reached the river which was much bigger than I saw from the school. We played with Angel a few minutes and I had to go up the path. The path was a very steep rise and I thought I might fall down the cliff. It was interesting but I felt tired. Chris said “this is exercise before the Bloomsday” I think so too.
I enjoyed my special unit like this so I wanted to continue this unit. I enjoyed these three activities going off campus with wonderful out of the class room.
