Delightful Weekend

Last weekend, I had home stay. I and my roommate brought our yukatas and a jinbe, both of which are traditional Japanese robes for women and men. We borrowed the jinbe from the Japanese Cultural Center the day before. After dinner on Saturday, all of us wore them together. My host sister had her own yukata, so I helped her put on her own yukata and my roommate fixed her hair up. She was really happy to be able to wear the yukata. After changing clothes, my host brother brought his professional camera and lights and started to make a small photo studio. He took three pictures of each of us and he also took a lot of pictures of all of us together. This experience of wearing yukatas and having our photos taking was a wonderful memory. I think they also had good time and enjoyed wearing the yukatas and the jinbe.

On Sunday, we went to a lake in Idaho after going to church. It took about 45 minutes by car from my host family's house. Some of my friends had been there with their host family before and they told me it was very beautiful, so I was very excited to go there. It was windy that day, but many people came and walked around the lake. We ate lunch in the park near the lake. The lunch we ate there was much better than the one at the house. After that, we walked around the lake. The lake was very big and looked like a beach. I thought that I want to go there in summer and swim in the lake. Next, we went to a restaurant in a hotel and ate huge plate of ice cream. I chose "Monkey Business" which is vanilla, chocolate and strawberry ice cream with a lot of whip cream, cherries and bananas. I was shocked when I saw the plate at first. It was really good, but it was too big so I could not eat it all. I think it was the most ice cream I have ever eaten in my life. The lake became one of my favorite places. I should go there again in summer.

It was my 4th home stay and I might see my host family one more time. I feel time is passing and it means we have to leave here soon. I will miss my host family very much. I went to many places and did a lot of things with them. I had many wonderful memories with them. I want to cherish the rest of my time with my host family.
