Great Hawaiian Show

Last Friday, I went to Eastern Washington University to see a Hawaiian show with all my house members. It was really good.
The hall was a gymnasium at Eastern Washington University. It was very big with a high ceiling. There was a big stage and it was at the front of the gymnasium. There was another small stage on the side for singers before the show, the singers sang Hawaiian songs with ukulele. When we entered the hall, there were a lot of people and also there were many tables and chairs. Our seat was already reserved because of my RA’s friend. After we sat down, we ate dinner which was Hawaiian food. We ate many kinds of food, for example, meat, salmon, coconut pudding, nuts, pineapple and so on. It was very delicious and I was satisfied.

After dinner, the lights went off and the show started. Many dancers were coming on the stage and danced a hula dance. The costumes of the women were really gorgeous and beautiful, while, the costumes of the men were very masculine and nice. Before I saw that show, I thought there was only one type of hula dance, but the idea was wrong. Many kinds of great dances were performed. I was fascinated with all the dances.

During the show, one part of dances, the performers invited in audience members on stage to dance. Some of them audience members who were invited moved very funny. It was really interesting and I was entertained by that. For the last dance with the audience, a man and a woman stayed. Then the mood was changed and they looked like a couple. The man started talking but I could not understand at all. At last the man kneeled down on one of his knees and I could hear the words “Will you marry me?” He proposed to her and she accepted. He presented the woman a wedding ring and he lifted her and kissed her on the stage. The whole crowd burst into cheers. I was really surprised and I was greatly touched by that. It was very romantic and lovely. The man shouted and explained his pleasure. Then I also felt happy.

The Hawaiian show was really nice and great. Before the show, I was not interested in Hawaii so much, but my opinion was changed. Someday, I think I want to go to Hawaii and I want to try to dance the hula dance.
