March 17 was Saint Patrick’s Day. I was very excited because it was my first time to experience a holiday in America. My RA said that you may be pinched by stranger if you don't wear green clothes. So I wore green skirt and went Downtown with my friends on the day. When we arrived there, there were many people. I was surprised at seeing that almost of all people were wearing green clothes. But I didn’t see anyone pinch anyone else. We watched a parade for 3 hours. Many people took part in the parade. Their performances were very interesting. For example, people were dancing, walking with their dog and driving a car. During the parade, I got a lot of candy and bread. I was ashamed about watching the parade in the front row because many children were there. And I couldn't see over me. But I enjoyed it.After the parade, we went to Starbucks because we were very tired. I drank coffee in America for the first time. When I was in Japan, I didn’t like coffee because it felt bitter. But I fell in love with caramel frappe chino when I drank it in America for the first time because it was so sweet. I thought not only American food but also American coffee is very sweet. So I like American Starbucks better than Japanese Starbucks. I want to go many times to Starbucks before I go
back to Japan.
Next, we went shopping at River Park Square. I bought a skirt and sandals at Abercrombie & Fitch. Because the skirt was on sale, I could get it at a bargain price. I am a lucky girl. I wii wear my new sandals as soon as it becomes warmer. But I am an unhappy girl as well as a lucky girl because I couldn't buy the cosmetics I wanted. They were sold out. Two weeks from now, they will arrive again and I will go there. I want to learn about American fashion. I want to buy some clothes when I go to Boston so I am looking forward to going there.
I learned that it is important for American people to observe national holidays. Most of them spend time with their family. It is different from Japan. In April, there is Easter Day. On that day, I will go to my host family's house. I am looking forward to observing the day with my host family.
