We are living girls has party every Wednesday in our dormitory. Some of my RA's friends come to Clarke house, and we make a special dinner! The first week my RA cooked spaghetti for us. The second week my RA and her friends cooked tacos for us. Both dinner were very delicious. We always have a lot of fun! so we have began thinking of about what we could for nice dinner this coming Wednesday. As a result, we decided to cook fried rice, takoyaki(octopus balls), rice balls, vegetables soup and chocolate-coated bananas for dessert. When I cooked takoyaki, actually I always want to put some octopuses in the balls, and Japanese usually do this, but I heard from my RA that almost all Americans can't eat octopus. Another reasons is it is hard for us to find some octopuses at the store, so when we cooked takoyaki, we put some cheese in it, some sausages and slice of rice cake in the ball instead of an octopus. I think this is good compromise between American food and Japanese food! I hoped they like it, finally 4 of my friends came to our house including my RA! They looked happy, because they looked forward to coming for the dinner. Everyone knew that we were making a Japanese food, so they were very excited!
We did a terrific job! Sometime we made a mistake. we put too much salt and black pepper in the fried rice at the first, but it turned out good! so It was very delicious. They also liked that, so I was very happy, but there was just one thing they didn't like about the meal. That is "the nori".
I didn't know they didn't like it, because almost all Japanese love it,of course including me! I think a rice ball with a seasoned flavor is part of "Japanese Mind".
Anyway we had a great time together with them. We were happy to we home made Japanese food after such a long time, and I also was glad to they liked and accepted the Japanese food witch we made. The next time is we are going to have a hamburger party! I can't wait for next Wednesday.
