Orchard house was also very interesting to me. The house is famous as the place where Louisa May Alcott lived with her family. It located in Concord, Massachusetts. A guide explained to us each of the rooms of the house, for example, whose room and what happened in the room. I was surprised at her age which was close to my age though she was a stable person. The house was not big and gorgeous, it was simple. Some photographs and portraits were hung on the wall. It was interesting that things were drawn on the walls and edges of windows by one of her daughters wallpaper in one of the rooms was original! I hope that this house will be left as it was in the future.
In Washington D.C., we also saw many interesting things. One of my favorite places was the Korean War Memorial. Though there were 19 statues of soldiers there, we could see 38 statues with the reflection of the black granite wall. A guide explained to us the meaning of 38 soldiers and about the war, etc. This story moved me and it was very interesting. I regretted that I didn't study history very much before the trip. I thought I wanted to study history after I go back to Japan.
For me, The National Gallery of Art Museum was the most interesting of all the museums that I went to. I went to this museum, the Natural History Museum and another museum which has modern pictures and works of art. In The National Gallery of Art Museum, there were many pictures drawn by famous artists and statues. I liked the Dutch pictures the best because these pictures were congenial to my taste and beautiful. In the shop in the museum, I saw many interesting goods which were made to imitate the exhibition, postcards with pictures of the art which I could see it there and special stationery, etc. I bought a booklet of postcards, two boxes of jigsaw puzzles, two ball-point pens and a set of letters. I wished I could have the museum more though I really enjoyed the time I spent there. The reason I thought so was that we didn't have enough time to see all of it. The East Coast Trip was great experience for me.
