Homestay Weekend by Mami
I went to homestay on March 7th. There are four people in my host family, Patric (hostfather), Victoria (hostmother), Alex (boy), and Ella (girl). They were very kind. They told us many things about their family, life, hobbies, and favorite food. On Friday, my host family picked us up at 5:00pm. and we picked up pizza for dinner on the way home. After dinner, many students came to their house because Patric is a professor at a university, so he invited his students. I was very nervous, but I was glad to talk with them. Everyone was almost the same age as me. We talked about American universities and Japan and we watched a movie. That day was a very hard day. On Saturday, we went downtown and walked around Riverfront Park. I rode a merry-go-round there and it was really fun! We had lunch in a sandwich restaurant. The restaurant was very fashionable and had good dishes. After lunch, we went shopping at Yoke's. Yoke's is a suppermarket, so I chose our dinner's ingredients. At the dinner a neighboring family came to the house, and we had dinner together. Of course, everyone spoke English, but I felt that I could understand their chat. On Sunday, I was unhappy, because I had to come back to MFWI. We went to church at Gonzaga University. I hadn't ever been to church, so everything was very interesting for me. At last, Sakiko and I made Japanese food. We made Nikujaga and Dango. They were very pleased. They ate all of our dishes. The three days were very important for me. I will never forget them. My heart was full of appreciation. Thank you!!
