Awesome University!!

Recently, I had a very nice time with some university students. On March 31st, I went to Whitworth University in my conversation class. I was looking forward to going there because I had never been to a university in America. Before we went there, we worked out a plan to introduce Japanese culture to them. The members of my class were divided into four groups, three people in each. We talked over a plan and we decided to introduce to them Japanese books, card game, calligraphy and yukata. I was a member of the Japanese card game group, so I borrowed some from Japanese Cultural Center. We call it karuta and we often played it when we were children, but I worried about whether the Witworth students would enjoy playing it or not. When we started the game, everyone was playing the game eagerly and I could see their good smiles! Our ideas succeeded and we could enjoy playing with them.

After we played the card game, we also had a great time there. We played musical chairs and a game we called fruit basket. First, everyone put chairs in a circle and we removed one chair each time so only one person cannot find a chair and is out of the game. The person has to say words such as "I like dogs." or "I'm a student." and if you are in accord with the question, you have to move to another chair. It was easy for me to play the game because we played this game in Japanese but I was sometimes confused about their Japanese questions. I reflected the questions that they could understand and I spoke these questions. It was not difficult and I could think hard so I like to play the game very much.

After that, we had a wonderful lunch time at the cafeteria. When the game ended, we moved to the cafeteria at the university. Some of the students from the class took us to the cafeteria and showed us the place where we can buy lunch. I bought grilled chicken cheese combo and it was very delicious. I ate lunch with Yusa, Miyuki. K and two students from the university. Both of them are second grade and are learning Japanese. I was surprised when I heard that they spoke Japanese because they can speak Japanese fluently. Even I think Japanese is very difficult language to study but they can speak it well. I want to study English hard and join American conversation. Whitworth university was very beautiful and bigger than I expected. Students were also friendly and kind so I like the university very much. What a good university it was! I had a very happy time there.
