Cute Children

My class went to Sunrise elementary school on Tuesday February 18th. It took twenty minutes to get there by bus. When I entered the school, I was surprised because many pictures which students made were decorated in the classroom. I had been hoping to go to a school in the U.S., for schools in Japan don't have many colors in the classroom. I moved to inner rooms and met the children who will be pen pal. Vivid classroom and cute children made me cheerful.

First, I was paired with Hiromi and we formed ourselves in groups of five with three children. We introduced ourselves to each other. One in three was a boy and there were two girls. The three children looked be tensed up but their worried faces relaxed in smiles when I talked to the children so I was very happy to see their warm smiles. Second, my group went on a tour of the school and the children guided us around school. To my surprise, there was a kindergarten in the Sunrise elementary school because in Japan there aren't kindergartens in elementary schools. After tour of the school, we made cranes from origami and ate lunch with the children. I was especially glad that children taught me famous American. They identified with famous American and introduced the people to me so I could know the people who I didn't know.

I had very good time with the children but I couldn't understand what children said because they sometimes spoke very fast. I'm going to meet the same children in May so I want to study English harder and I'd like to talk with the children more fluently next time. Most of all I'm looking forward to receiving the pen pal letters from the children.
