My Good Homestay

I had homestay from last Friday to Sunday. My host family lives near downtown. There are four children in their family. They are little and very cute. Both of the parents are young. They are very kind to me. On the first day they picked me up at 3 p.m. in front of Commons. My roommate and I were very nervous. My host mothere, Jamie, said to us that she was very nervous too. It was the first time to accept Japanese people into their home. On the first day, we went to the YMCA where they exercise and go swimming. We exercised there and enjoyed it very much. Then we went to their home for a homemade pizza dinner. My host mother, Jamie, and host father, Steve, taught us how to cook a pizza. It was easy and very delicious. After dinner we made chocolate chip cookies. They were delicious too. Then the children went to bed at 8:30. My friend and I went to bed at 11. It was very busy and fun day.

The second day was also busy and fun day. First we had blueberry muffins for breakfast. Steve made them in the early morning. They were very good! I have never eaten such muffins. I want to eat these muffins again. After that we went downtown to see a parade. This day was St. Patrick’s Day, so there were a lot of people who wore something green. My friend and I didn’t have green things, so the children gave us green stickers to wear. The parade was interesting. We had a good time. Then Jamie, my friend and I went shopping at Vally mall. I bought some slippers because my slippers are worn out. After shopping, we went back home for dinner. Jamie and Steve cooked hamburgers. They were good! I ate all my dinner quickly. In the evening, my friend and I gave them some presents from Japan. They were very surprised and glad. I was glad too. We talked about Japan and our family. Then I taught the children how to do origami. We enjoyed playing with them.

The last day was very interesting day. First we went to the Children’s Museum. I played there with the children. Then we went to the park and ate lunch there. In the evening, we went to church where Steve is the Pastor. I couldn’t understand his lecture because he spoke very fast but it was a good experience for me. It was the first time I went to church. After that they dropped us back off at school. The 4-year-old child, Alexis, cried so I cried too.

I was sad but they will invite us back again. I can’t wait. The homestay was a very good experience for me and I had a great time with them. I love my host family!
