I went downtown to watch St.Patrick's day parade on lat weekend. It was very exciting for me. I knew that on this day we have to wear something green but I didn't have any green things. I went downtown wearing my host mother’s green glove on my right hand. When I arrived downtown, there are so many people who were wearing green clothes, hats or wigs and so on. It was very interesting for me. Japan doesn't have a holiday like this so I am going to tell my family or friends about the day when I go back to Japan. My host mother told me that many people drink green beer on this day. I was surprised when I heard that green beer exit. I saw people at parade who were waiting in a long line in front of the shop where green beer was sold. I am not able to drink beer so I ate some green doughnuts. They looked very strange but the taste was very delicious. My tongue became green after eating.
When the parade began, feeling all over downtown ran high. Parade was very fun because many people who were wearing green clothes and riding in a funny car passed ahead of me. My host sister Mack also walked in the parade on the street as a cheerleader. I am happy to see Mack’s dance. Obviously my host mother Cindy was very excited by Mack’s dance. We enjoyed watching the parade.
After that, we all ate lunch together including Mack’s friend. Mack and her friend looked very tired. I thought she has a lot of guts and she is a very nice cheerleader. I was very happy to experience in American parade with my host family. I want to learn more about American festivals or Japanese festivals though St. Patrick's day. I am going to attend various festival after I go back to Japan.
