JAPAN Week by saki

Today, I joined the Family Festival at commons. I was the staff at the New Year's cards competition booth. It was a very good opportunity to talk with native speakers. Suddenly, I was asked by a man to take a photo with him. I was so surprised by the request, but I soon realized that I was wearing a Yukata at that time. I also like it and I understood his feeling, so I accepted his offer. He looks happy and afterward we chatted a little. He is interested in Japanese culture and studies Japanese himself. He especially likes Kanji and Kendo. I was very surprised that he has studied Japanese about only four months, but he already can write more than 7,000 letters of Kanji and speaks Japanese very well. He also knows a lot about Japanese culture. I felt that I should study about my own culture more and more. I want to share our culture with native speakers. In order to do it, I have to study English and also study my home town, culture, and so on before the extension program. I also joined the Bon dance team. We danced in front of the mayor of Spokane at the Spokane City Hall. We were very nervous, but succeeded beyond our expectations. The other day, we danced downtown. A lot of people came there, and sawJapanese cultural activities, such as judo, karate, Japanese drum, and koto. We felt very happy, because a lot of people were interested in our country and culture. We danced with them. It was very fun and a good experience for us. I want to show our performance more.
