Fantastic Trip!!

I had a great time this last week. From April 12th to 17th, we went to Boston and Washington DC on our East Coast trip. We stayed in Boston for three days and in Washington DC for two days. On the first day, we departed from Spokane to Boston by plane and arrived there in the evening. The time difference between Spokane and Boston is three hours so I had jet lag but when I reached the hotel, it was gone because the hotel's room was so big and beautiful! I had never stayed such a wonderful hotel. My friends and I watched the baseball game on TV. Matsuzaka and Matsui were playing. It was very exciting because I could watch a scene in which a Japanese person was playing in Boston. We had no special event on the first day but even though it was the first day I had a wonderful time in Boston.

We also had an amazing time from the second day to last day. We visited Lexington Green, Harvard Yard and Beacon Hill in Boston. I liked Plymouth Plantation very much because there were actors playing the parts of people who lived there long ago so I could see their houses and jobs. I was also able to ask them about life in the 17th century. Actually, I didn't know about Pilgrims before I came to America but I learned about them in American studies class before I went to the East Coast so I was looking forward to going there. On arriving at Plymouth Plantation, some Pilgrims were cutting logs and making a fire. They talked about their life and values and they also said that they were lucky to come to America. After that, I met a Wampanoag Indian who helped the Pilgrims with their life. I was very surprised at their house because their house was old and like tent but inside was warm and big. I felt comfortable in their house so I talked about life with a Wampanoag for a long time. On the fifth day and last day, we went to many places in Washington DC, for example, Lincoln Memorial, White House, Pentagon Mall and so on. My favorite place is Smithsonian Institution because it was very beautiful and magnificent beyond my expectation. I visited Museum of Natural History, Air and Space Museum and National Gallery of Art. I saw the Hope Diamond and touched a moon rock. I was amazed when I saw Hope Diamond because I had never seen such a beautiful Diamond! I was glued to it for long time. After that, I appreciated pictures in the National Gallery of Art. I like piece by Jean-Francois Millet and I especially like "Starry Night". I want to go there again and see more pieces withiout being so rushed. All things of this trip were interesting and fun for me.

This trip made me very happy because I wanted to visit the East Coast and could see many great places. The weather was sunny and warm so I didn't have to worry about the weather. I could get on Amtrak and see many beautiful rows of houses and streets. I could also meet awesome bus guides, Pat and Randa. I want to thank them, great teacher Ron, lovely adviser Aki and Mr. Ishikawa who made good plans. I really enjoyed traveling to the East Coast for six days. I think I will never forget this trip!
