Nice Hinamatsuri Day

March 3rd is Hinamaturi day. It's part of Japan's own culture. On the stage, there was a small Hinamatsuri event at Commons. It was interesting for me. In my case, my family eat Hina-arare which are snacks on every March 3rd. There are Hina dolls displayed in many Japanese houses on the stage. Exhibiting dolls special means that we hope girls marry early. It's like a girl's day.

At this event, we heard about some Hinamatsuri experiences from MFWI students, for example, we have to put away the dolls as soon as possible after this day because if you don't put away as soon as possible, you can't marry early. It's a kind of superstition. There are Hina dolls in my house on stage, too, so my mother will put away Hina dolls today. Next, we sang Hinamatsuri song, and boys and girls who came from elementary school song American songs for us. The scene which I was most impressed with was exchanged Japanese dolls and American dolls. It's interesting because Japanese dolls and American dolls are completely different. The faces, hairs and clothes of Japanese dolls are different from American dolls. I wanted American people to like Japanese dolls.

After the event, I ate lunch with Christian, who is 10 years old and he has a little disorder in his brain , but I didn't care of about this. He knew how to fold origami to make a crane, so we made a crane together. He also knew how to make origami balloon. He gave some balloons to me with his smile. That was so cute! He said he likes to read books, and he reads 100 page or more everyday. When I heard this, I respected him. He is a boy, but he is interested in Hinamatsuri, so he knew many things about Hinamatsuri. Some American students said they have Hina dolls in their houses. I was amazed when I heard this.

Today, we celebrated Hinamatsuri which is part of Japan's own culture. Hinamatsuri is starting become known in the world. I'm happy foreign person who is interested in Hinamatsuri and this was a good opportunity today.
