A BEE Girl's Birthday
I belong to G10. We had had a plan since we were in Japan. It was the surprise birthday party of our friend. She was born on March 10. In Japan March is included in the spring holiday usually so people who were born in March (and April) aren't celebrated by their friends directly because they don't meet at school. We wanted to make it her best birthday in her life. We thought about her present. We wanted to give a big present, but when we go back to Japan, it will be an obstacle so we decorated a notebook with our congratulations on each page. Every page was funny and wonderful, but the very first page was the best. We made "HAPPY BIRTHDAY IZUMI (her name!)" with our bodies, took pictures of them, and stick it on. It became a great notebook as I wanted it. The special day came. To surprise her, we made a rule which we didn't have to celebrate her till the party. While we decorated the room, we had to keep her away from there so our action was strange to her. On the table there was yakitori, which was her favorite Japanese food, a large pizza and a cake. Our RA made it shaped like sushi! It looked like real sushi. After preparation, I called for her. Everyone waited for her in a dark room, and then as soon as she entered the light was turned on and we sang for her. She was amazed and her response made us very happy! The party was great. After that, I asked her about our not saying "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" She said it was sad. It was too strange but I was glad to hear it because our strategy succeeded! To celebrate someone's birthday makes people happy--not only the main person, but other people.
