American food by Keiko.k

Today dinner was pretty good!! We ate steak , baked potato, salad, and bread. Everyone said that it was too much to eat completely. I think so too, and also I felt American culture, because American serving are larger than Japanese serving. For example, when I went to McDonald's for the first time, I was so surprised at the hamburger size. I always have an appetite, and I could eat anything, but most Japanese students couldn't eat them. It was a little culture shock for us. I wonder why American servings are so big like that. This difference is very interesting to compare each culture. My friends always say to me , "I miss Japanese foodm like miso-soup, natto, and rice." I can understand their feeling well, because I love Japanese food, too, but I think during this semester we can see the difference of culture from Commons meals. It's easy for us to touch American culture. I felt this food are good, but it has very high calories. The secret of Japanese longevity is Japanese food. It tastes very good, and includes many nutrients such as vitamins ,protein and collagen. These lead to a healthy and long life. I love Japanese food better than American food, but gradually I'd like to introduce Japanese food such as okonomiyaki and takoyaki to our host family. We'll be able to understand different cultures.
