Busy but Nice Trip!

I went to the East Coast from April 11 to April 16. First, I went to Boston by plane and stayed there for 3 days. Then I took Amtrak train and left Boston on April 14. Then I arrived in Washington D.C. The train trip took about 8 hours. When I go out in Japan, I often use a train. However, I had never ridden on a train since I came here so I was looking forward to ridding on the train. The seats were larger than the seats in Japan so I felt comfortable though I sat whole time, but I sill had a good time.

The next day, we started our tour in Washington D.C. The weather was bad, so we had to change our schedule. First, I went to White House, The US Capitol, The Smithsonian Institute and a lot of memorials for example, Jefferson Memorial, Lincoln Memorial and National Japanese-American Memorial etc. At The Smithsonian, I went to The National Gallery of Art and The Air and Space Museum. I liked looking at paintings so I was happy and excited to look at many paintings. Moreover, I could enter these museums free! I was surprised! In Japan, maybe most museums aren’t free and they are a little expensive. Then I ate lunch at The National Galley of Art. I ate fried chicken and some French fries. I had a soft drink, too. It was delicious but a lot so I was very full. In The Air and Space Museum, I saw Treasures of American History. I saw ruby slippers of the Wizard of Oz. I liked the story and I have watched the movie so I was excited to see them. It was bad weather but I enjoyed the time very much.

The last day was also busy but interesting. First, I went to Arlington National Cemetery and Pentagon Mall. I felt Arlington National Cemetery was difficult place to understand, but I thought it was important place to American people. There were many graves, including those of graves Kennedy brothers. When I went there, many people were visiting there. After that, I went to Pentagon Mall. It was large and clean. First, for a lunch. I ate pizza that was topped with a lot of salami at Villa Pizza. It was big! It was delicious but a little hot. Then, I went shopping. I bought various things, for example, some clothes and hand soap. The hand soap smelled very good. I used it in my host family’s house. I had wanted to buy it very much. I was happy I could buy it. Then I took an airplane to Minneapolis airport and I changed an airplane and I returned to Spokane. I loved shopping so I enjoyed the last day very much.

Most days during my East Coast Trip was bad weather. Moreover, the East Coast Trip was so busy. However, it was very fun and I was very excited. I enjoyed it very much. I'll miss Washington D.C and Boston!
